Hidden Sentence Training

Manchester Active Voices Youth Empowerment Programme hosted a ‘Train the Trainer’ session delivered by Action for Prisoners’ Families (APF) in.

“As the Regional Development Manager for APF I was delighted with the facilities offered and with the support shown by the MAVYEP team in preparations for the day and during the training session.”

The ‘Train the Trainer’ course is intended to enable the ‘Hidden Sentence’ course to be rolled out across all communities in England and Wales. The ‘Hidden Sentence’ course aims to give service providers an understanding of the impact of imprisonment on the wider family – improving the response of all agencies to the challenges faced.

The session trained staff from a range of agencies including local community groups, domestic violence workers, prisoners’ families support groups and the prison service.

“Hopefully, the training these organisations can now deliver to their staff, volunteers and clients will improve the experience of all those affected by the imprisonment of a family member or loved-one.”  Toby Stewart
